The Harbour is for entrepreneurs participating in discussions with peers. Building a business is a creative effort using complex paints on a canvas that changes every day. As the “driving engine” of the economy, too few resources are available to exchange ideas, pass on experience, or simply to commiserate over the trials and exasperations of the businesses that fill our days. We are happy to hear of successes; all of our participants pass on what has worked for us, some mistakes to be avoided, and how to ride out the storms.
Independent business is a matching of the drive, creativity and commitment of the entrepreneur, against the risk of the business. This is especially true of small and micro business. Challenges come from many directions, and resources are limited - mostly just you. Yet success is incredibly satisfying. The Harbour has been designed to reduce risks. The goal is to help you generate options for your decisions.
The Harbour began as a private club, where bootstrap business owners could throw a problem on the table, and get fresh eyes to focus on a challenge. We have found that solutions that worked in different sectors and various disciplines could be applied to many businesses with some modification. The philosophy is simple - we pool expertise, and each participant is expected to both contribute ideas, and in turn, get ideas and advice. Everyone contributes - everyone benefits.
